From the QC Desk, one last time

In Marks, approximately 2,300 customers have been boiling their drinking water since January 11. The MS Department of Health will notify the City when testing indicates that water is safe to drink without being boiled. Bottled water is also advised.
       
In Lambert Municipal Court of January 11, Judge Don Deas found Kawaii Phillips of Panola County guilty of two counts of telephone harassment of Quitman County Elementary School teacher Cameron Scipper. A recording of one of the calls made by Phillips to Scipper was played in court. A verbal assault charge by Scipper against Phillips and a countercharge of verbal assault by Phillips against Scipper were both dismissed. A jail term by Phillips was suspended; she was ordered to pay fines and court costs. Scipper resigned from the QCSD in December.
      
The Mayor and Board of Alderman in Lambert announced that they are supporting the police and town clerks in collections of fines owed to the town by arranging payment plans and cash payments by delinquent individuals.
      
The Lipizzaner Stallions which appeared in January of 2009 in Batesville are returning to the Delta, appearing at 2PM and 730 PM on Saturday, January 23 at the Leflore Civic Center in Greenwood. Delta Academy is presenting Cow Patty Bingo on Saturday, February 6 DA’s practice field. When the wandering cow “poops” on a square on a grid drawn on the field, money can be won by $10 ticket holders in the amounts of $50, $200 or $800, depending on the location of the pooped patties. The docket book at the Quitman County Jail indicates that arrests are still to be made of suspects in the December 16 breaking and entering of the Rebel Citgo Store and for the possession or sale of property stolen from the store. Store owner Russell Gentry reported that burglars stole cigarettes and cash from the store after a wall was pushed in, at a time when the store burglar alarm was not activated.
